About Daymark

A quiet place to read and think

Daymark is an open, unhurried journal for longform writing. We give each piece the room and typographic care it deserves.

Our approach

Writing without a predetermined niche

Daymark does not assign itself a narrow subject. Articles arrive on whatever deserves careful attention, and each one is set in readable type with generous margins so the ideas can unfold at their own pace.

We are an independent publication. We keep the framing plain and avoid sensational headlines, so the writing itself does the work and readers can follow a thought all the way through.

Our principles

Three standards we keep

Every publication decision follows a few simple commitments.

Clarity

Plain, readable writing

Sentences are kept direct and well spaced, so the argument is easy to follow from start to finish.

Patience

Room to develop an idea

Longer pieces are given the length they need. We would rather a reader stay with one article than skim many.

Visual quiet

Nothing that competes with the page

Neutral colour, plain layouts, and soft imagery keep attention on the words and nothing else.
